Miracle Housewife Does A Hole In One Seven Times

Miracle Housewife Does A Hole In One Seven Times

By Shahrullizan Rusli

SEREMBAN, Jan 29 (Bernama) -- It may sound strange but its no joke! It is just a miracle feat by an amateur golfer from South Korea, Choi Son Eub, who managed a "Hole In One" seven times all within a period of less than 100 days.

Choi, 63, a full time housewife and suffering from cancer, may have broken the world record when she did the miracle hits on Nov 2, 15, 17, 27, 30 last year and again on Jan 1 and the latest on Jan 26 at the Tuanku Jaafar Golf Country Resort, here.

The unbelievable feat was witnessed by a number of local golfers and fellow Koreans including the chairman of the resort Dalton Kim.

And as a recognition for her miracle achievement, Choi was rewarded with a plaque.

Choi's feat, who played with the handicap 11 and 12, is certainly a difficult one for anyone to repeat

SIGNS OF GOOD OMEN

Choi's fortunate spell started on Nov 2 after she accidentally stepped on cow dung on the fairway.

"A fellow Korean golfer told her that it could be a good omen. The Koreans believe that such incident is the sign of good tidings ahead," she said through an interpreter.

Since than, Choi has been making miracle shots and even did a "Hole in One" in the most difficult hole on the green, hole no 8.

The housewife started playing golf only a few years back with the guidance of a coach at the Horse Valley Golf Course in Seoul, South Korea.

Her husband Lee Sung Un, 63, is a successful timber merchant back home and spends a big amount of money to finance his wife's hobby in golf.

MALAYSIA IS THE CHOICE

Playing golf back in South Korea is very costly thus many Koreans take a break between two and three months annually to play golf in Malaysia as it is much cheaper.

Choi encourages more local women to take up golf as the game here is dominated by males.

"Golf is the most appropriate exercise for women. It is not an aggressive game. It is also said to bring good luck," she said.

Her suffering due to cancer has also lessened, she feels much healthier after being in Malaysia since last October as this country is blessed with fine weather and healthy air.

Meanwhile Dalton Kim told Bernama, Choi has achieved something that could only be considered as a miracle and the "Hole In One" seven times is very much due to luck.

He said, in Choi's case, what is more pertinent is that a good environment boosted her spirits especially when she has been suffering from ailment for years.

Most of the golf club members are South Koreans with a number of them stricken by ailments.

They prefer here compared to South Korea due to the rapid pace of development and the highly competitive environment that had contributed to tremendous mental pressure.

"Malaysia is a good place to find solace," he said ending the conversation.
